I painted this painting on the afternoon of the invasion of our Capitol building. It was the most disturbing and frightening thing that I have ever witnessed.
Today, 4 years later, I have seen a distinct deterioration of our sacred freedoms. I honestly thought we could remain a free society as long as we had our Constitution in place no matter who became President. The Constitution no longer holds up as the law of the land.
Our freedoms that we have been so proud to practice are being chipped away. I feel so helpless as I watch our elected officials fight against a President that is being more of a dictator than a representative of the People.
I remain an optimist. I still think we can save our beautiful country…somehow. I am not blind, nor am I frozen by fear. I will do what I can to speak out and vote my conscience as often as I can. I do not and will not relinquish the power that our Constitution has given me.
The proceeds from the sale of this painting will be donated to a forward-thinking political candidate who aligns with these values.
