I grew up right here in New Albany, so I’m excited and honored to be able to be part of the art culture in this community! After graduating from New Albany High School, I went to college at Princeton University, where I played basketball and earned my BA in English. After that, I came home to Ohio and received my JD from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Currently, at my “day job,” I work at the Institute for Human Services in the child welfare arena, and focus on improving child welfare policy and law to help keep kids and families safe and together. I also function as the “in-house graphic design person” for our communication materials.

I enjoy many different avenues of art and design, but for the most part, my medium is oil painting, and my subjects are the things I know and love. The outdoors, specifically the rolling hills of Ohio and the wilderness shorelines of Northern Michigan, is what inspires me. I didn’t attend art school, but I can’t say I’m totally self-taught. Throughout my educational life, I’ve been really lucky to have the most amazing teachers. Although I’ve always loved to draw and paint, my real passion for arts was kindled by my middle and high school art teachers (from right here at New Albany Middle and High School!) They equipped me with foundational knowledge, methods, and skillsets, while at the same time, supported and encouraged my creative freedom. This powerful combination was integral in my ability today to continue to learn and grow as an artist.

I’m a real estate title attorney, but I've always loved woodworking. From the moment, as a child, that my grandfather first put his tools in my hands, I started making things, and never really stopped. For me it's all about making something that's beautiful and also functional. I love using wood because it’s natural, and I try to use very sustainable domestic species, like Tulip Poplar. Up until this point I've always thought of this as something I did on the side, building things here and there when I had the time. The opportunity to do this on a larger scale, as more than just a hobby, is exciting, and something I didn’t consider as possible until now.
